Boy Rescued Using Rope Launcher in Rajouri Floods

Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir | July 2025

In a high-stakes rescue operation during ongoing monsoon flooding, a young boy stranded across a swollen stream in Rajouri district, Jammu & Kashmir, was successfully rescued with the help of a rope launcher deployed by the Indian Army.

The incident occurred after heavy rains led to flash flooding in several remote areas of Rajouri, leaving local communities cut off and infrastructure severely impacted. The boy was reported stranded on the opposite bank of a rapidly flowing water channel, with no safe route for rescuers to reach him by foot or boat.

Responding promptly, the Army team utilized a rope launcher to shoot a rescue line across the stream. This enabled them to secure a rope bridge, allowing the boy to be safely pulled across to the rescue side.

The operation was completed swiftly and without injury, drawing appreciation from both local authorities and the public for the coordinated and effective response.

This incident highlights the increasing role of rope launchers and similar long-distance rescue tools in flood-prone and remote areas — especially where conventional access is limited or hazardous.

As extreme weather events become more frequent across India, the use of such specialized rescue equipment is proving to be a critical asset for military, emergency, and disaster response teams nationwide.
